The Windsor Feminist Theatre had its early beginnings as Woman of Windsor, a non-profit organization formed in 1978 by Pat Noonan. Their premiere initiative was the 1st Annual International Women’s Day workshop, a panel discussion about women’s issues, sponsored by a grant from the Secretary of State and endorsed by the Windsor District Labour Council.

Windsor Feminist Theatre was founded in 1980 as a response to women in the community who wanted theatre that was focused particularly on women's issues. WFT seeks to provide an opportunity for women to tell their stories, recognizing, reflecting and supporting the social, ethnic, political and economic diversity of women. WFT supports the creative power of women by hosting lectures, workshops, performances, screenings, exhibitions, along with other cultural activities Windsor Feminist Theatre is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors, staff and voting members.
